I recorded all the vocals for my last EP using a coathanger & a pair of tights as a pop filter. This time around I splurged for a proper one… which is basically a plastic ring covered by a stocking with the Rode logo printed on it. I am capitalism’s bitch.

I’ve been demo-ing new songs in my messy room. I hate it when bands who no-one knows (like myself) post lengthy ‘making of’ videos or post their crappy demos like they’re creating the next ‘Dark Side of The Moon’ or ‘Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus’. It’s like seeing a woman grunting and hopping around as she struggles to pull on her Spanx before getting into a beautiful gown, spending time in hair and make-up and hitting the red carpet.

So yeah, my songs are currently in need of a shower, a hair treatment and - let’s be real - a bit of a wax. When they’re babe’n, I’ll let you know. In the mean time, this explodingdog cartoon is pretty much on the money.

This song is called ‘Nowhere Better To Be’. It used to be longer and called ‘1988’, but I played it to Mark Seymour and Charles Jenkins (cheers, Push Songs!) and they suggested a few improvements.

I’ve been accepted into the latest round of ‘Push Songs’, which is a songwriting workshop/mentorship where I’ll spend time playing my songs to Adalita (Magic Dirt) and Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors aka HUNNNNAAAAAAS) and they’ll tell me how to make them better. PRETTY STOKED JUST QUIETLY.

This fits in well with the rest of my plans for music this year. The plan is to release my next EP by June. We’ll see how that pans out.
